2021 Consortium!

(Updates coming soon!)

Commissioning

Commissioning a new work is an exciting endeavor for both performer and composer.

RATES--Rates are determined by the size of the ensemble/instrumentation, length of piece and due date.

DUE DATE--Please allow anywhere from 6-12 months for the entire process, which includes discussion of the work, contract negotiation, copyright permissions (if applicable), and of course, writing & editing the piece.

COPYRIGHT--Welch retains complete copyright of the work. However, you may request and receive sole performance & recording rights for an allotted time period. This is determined during contract negotiations.

RESIDENCY & PREMIERE ATTENDANCE--Arguably one of the most enjoyable parts of this process is collaboration. Welch would love to spend time working with the artist or ensemble before the premiere, as both guest conductor and composer. If you desire a residency at the premiere, it is asked that you cover travel and lodging costs as well as a small stipend. This is usually negotiated within the contract.
